Welcome to Year 3,
Lent 2 Term
This half term, in English, we will be studying Robin Hood by Marcia Williams. We will be focusing on writing direct speech and using a range of conjunctions in our writing. In our shared reading sessions, we will be looking at The Water Horse.
In Maths, we will be getting to grips with fractions. Before the Easter break, we will also be looking at mass and capacity.
In our RE, we are continuing with our new scheme of learning called the RED (Religious Education Directory) Curriculum. In Lent 2, we will explore the topic ‘Desert to Garden’. The focus is on key moments in Jesus’ latter days and how this translates into our lives and rituals today. Due to First Holy Communion preparation, the focus is on the Eucharist and developing our understanding of this.
Blocked Curriculum
The blocked curriculum is called There’s No Place Like Home. This half term will focus on local Geography and History.
Our RSHE focus this half term is called ‘Family, Friends and others’ and will also be looking at ‘When things feel bad’. These units focus on different family structures and positive relationships and how to cope with difficult feelings.
In French, pupils will be studying a unit called ‘Je peux..’ (I can) where they will be working on recognising, recalling and spelling 10 action verbs.
PE this term will still be on Wednesdays and Fridays and the children will be working on net and wall games with Mr Mitchell.
