My name is Miss McKay and I am the Class Teacher for the Year 3 class. I am looking forward to the year ahead. We have lots to look forward to this year.
Autumn Term 1
Healthy Humans
How can we use the gift of our bodies to live lives that honour God?
In English, we will be using the text ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ and will be writing both an information text, a narrative and exciting poetry over the course of this half term. We will be refining our ability to be Year 3 writers which will include ongoing work in spelling, paragraphing, using expanded noun phrases and conjunctions.
In Maths, after completing our unit on time, we will be looking at place value and then moving on to Addition and Subtraction where we will talk about adding and subtracting 1s across 10s and 10s across a 100.
In the Year 3 RED RE topic “Creation and Covenant,” children will be studying all about the Creation story from the Book of Genesis. We will retell the Creation story and we will learn about how we can protect our planet today through the words of Pope Francis in Fratelli Tutti and Laudato Si. We will consider how we can be stewards of the Earth for ourselves and future generations.
Our topic this term is called, ‘Healthy Humans’. The subjects we will be learning as part of this topic are Science, Design and Technology and Art.
In Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) our topic is Created and Loved by God. We will listen to the story of Jairus in the temple and consider how his life was impacted by the wonderful work of Jesus.
In Year 3, children begin their French learning. In this first half term, children will be introduced to the French alphabet and learn some of the phonics sounds.
In computing, children will be introduced to programming and following simple instructions to make their own programming game for a healthy human.
