Pentecost Term 2
How does your garden grow?
In English, we will be using the text ‘The Garden’ and will be writing both instructions and a narrative with a secret space over the course of this half term. We will be refining our ability to be Year 3 writers which will include ongoing work in spelling, paragraphing, using expanded noun phrases and conjunctions.
In Maths, after completing our unit on time, we will be looking at shape. In particular, we will focus on angles and using mathematical language to describe 2D and 3D shapes. Our final unit of the year will be on statistics looking at pictograms and bar charts.
In the Year 3 final RED RE topic “Dialogue and Encounter,” children will be studying Judaism and Islam. We will be looking at links between Exodus and the account of the Last Supper as well as how the Passover is celebrated today. We will learn more about religious laws, beliefs and worship. We will learn key words and terms for both religions.
Our topic this term is called, ‘How does your garden grow?’. The subjects we will be learning as part of this topic are Science, Design and Technology and Art.
In Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) we are continuing to consider what it means to live in community with others and what responsibilities that may place on us. We will consider the Church as a particular community at a local, Diocesan and worldwide level.
In French, the topic name is ‘Les Legumes’ with children learning the names of 10 vegetables in the plural form and the language required to buy these from the market.
In computing, children will be thinking about how they present and share digital information. They will be making simple PowerPoints to develop and show their skills.
In PE this term, children will need to wear their kit on Fridays only and bring their swimming kit on this day too.
You will see below our timetable for the Pentecost Term along with the knowledge organiser for RE this term.
