Remote Learning at St Mary’s

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School aims to continue to provide an ambitious and broad curriculum in all subjects.

We have extensive plans for the provision of remote education where needed and to ensure that the small number of children that need to be educated at home, for example, due to shielding or self-isolation, are given the support they need to continue learning. Due to the Third Lock down from January the 4th of January 21, these plans have been improved to include more daily ‘live’ teaching and has been implemented for the whole school.

Remote education, is of a high quality and aligns as closely as possible with in-school provision. Due to whole classes learning at home because of whole school closures from the 4th of January 2021,  all children are currently receiving a mixture of recorded and live lessons, which allow for interaction.

EYFS and YEARS ONE AND TWO:  recorded videos for daily phonics and videos/ powerpoints for other subjects such as mathematics and topic. Zoom/ MS meetings at the beginning and end of the day, to explain the day’s work, registration and at the end of the day to show work and time for a story.

KS2 classes:  A mixture of ‘live’ and recorded powerpoint/video lessons daily. Years 5 and 6 have at least 3 zoom lessons a day: covering Math’s English and RE. Years three and Fours are having a daily zoom/ team’s meeting and will meet at least twice a week for live teaching. They also include a mixture of interactive, live teaching and recorded power points/ videos.

Please see the information below for further information on how remote learning is provided at St Mary’s School and the class pages on this website for provision.
